The classic Windows card game
Solitaire
Klondike the way Windows dealt it from 3.0 to XP: Draw One or Three, Standard or Vegas scoring, a timed bonus, twelve card backs and the bouncing cards when you win. Free, no sign-in, plays in the browser.
How to play
- The goal. Build the four foundations at the top right from Ace to King, one suit each. When all 52 cards are up there, the cards come tumbling down the screen.
- The layout. Seven columns dealt one to seven cards with only the top card face up; the other 24 cards wait face down in the stock at the top left. Click the stock to turn one card (Draw One) or three (Draw Three) onto the waste beside it.
- Moving cards. Drag a card, or click it and then its destination. Columns build down in alternating colours, and a face-up card carries every card below it. Only a King may start an empty column. Double-click a card, or right-click it, to send it to its foundation; right-click an open space to send every card that can go.
- The deck. When the stock is empty, click the ring to turn the waste over and go through it again. In Standard scoring that costs 100 points in Draw One, or 20 points after the third pass in Draw Three; in Vegas you get one pass (Draw One) or three (Draw Three), and a cross means the deck is done.
- Scoring. Standard: 5 for a waste card to a column, 10 for a card to a foundation, 5 for turning a card over, −15 for taking a card back; never below 0. Vegas: −$52 to buy in, $5 per card home. None: just play.
- Timed game. The clock starts on your first move. In Standard scoring you lose 2 points every 10 seconds and a win after at least 30 seconds adds 700,000 ÷ seconds. Undo takes back one move.
What is replicated
- The Windows 3.0 to XP layout: stock top left, waste beside it, four foundations top right, seven columns, a green table in a classic window with Game and Help menus and a status bar showing Score and Time.
- Options exactly as the original: Draw one or Draw three; Standard, Vegas or None scoring; Timed game; Status bar; Outline dragging; Keep score. Changing draw, scoring or timing deals a new game.
- Standard scoring: waste to column 5, waste to foundation 10, column to foundation 10, turning a card 5, foundation to column −15, turning the deck −100 (Draw One) or −20 after the third pass (Draw Three), −2 every 10 seconds when timed, bonus 700,000 ÷ seconds for a timed win of 30 seconds or more, floor of 0.
- Vegas scoring: $52 buy-in, $5 per card to a foundation and $5 back if you retrieve it, one pass in Draw One and three in Draw Three, Keep score carrying the total across deals, amounts shown as dollars.
- Deal (F2), a single level of Undo, Deck... with twelve card backs (three of them animated, as some of the original's were), Options..., Exit; Help Contents (F1) and About.
- Drag and drop with optional outline dragging; double-click sends a card to its foundation; right-click on a card or an open space works as in Windows 2000 and later.
- The Draw One cheat in Draw Three: Ctrl+Alt+Shift while clicking the stock.
- The victory: cards fall from the foundations and bounce across the window leaving trails, then "Congratulations! Deal again?" Click anywhere to skip.
- Deal simply deals again, with no resign prompt, as the original did. There is no auto-complete, hint or loss message, because the original had none.
- Exit closes the window onto a little desktop; click the icon to reopen it.
Additions of our own, labelled as such: numbered deals with shareable links (this page's own numbering, 1 to 1000000 - #617-1 and #617-3 are the same layout at different draw settings, not the numbering of any other program), click-then-click moves for touch screens, the game in progress surviving a reload, statistics per draw setting, Select Game (F3), Statistics (F4), Options on F5 and Undo on Ctrl+Z, and animated deals and moves that can be switched off.

Questions
How is Standard scoring calculated?
A card from the waste to the tableau scores 5, a card to a foundation 10 (from the waste or the tableau), turning over a tableau card 5, and taking a card back from a foundation costs 15. Turning the deck over costs 100 in Draw One and 20 in Draw Three after the third pass. In a timed game 2 points go every 10 seconds and a win after at least 30 seconds earns a bonus of 700,000 divided by the seconds taken. The score never drops below 0.
What is Vegas scoring?
You buy in for $52 and earn $5 for every card you move to a foundation; taking one back costs $5. You get one pass through the deck in Draw One and three passes in Draw Three. With Keep score ticked the total carries from deal to deal, so a run of games shows whether you are up or down.
Which cards can move where?
Tableau columns build down in alternating colours, and any face-up card moves together with the cards below it. Only a King (or a run headed by a King) may start an empty column. The foundations build up by suit from Ace to King, one card at a time. Double-click or right-click a card to send it to its foundation.
What does the Timed game option do?
The status bar shows the seconds since your first move. With Standard scoring you lose 2 points every 10 seconds, and winning after at least 30 seconds adds a bonus of 700,000 divided by your time; a win in under 30 seconds gets no bonus. Vegas and None scoring show the time without changing the score.
Is there a cheat for drawing one card in Draw Three?
Yes, as in the original: hold Ctrl, Alt and Shift while clicking the stock and a single card is turned. The game remembers that it was cheated and leaves it out of your statistics.
Is anything saved or sent anywhere?
Your options, your card back, your statistics and the game in progress are stored in this browser only. The page makes no network calls of its own: no sign-in, no account, nothing to install.
